What is Module Management all about?

In this article we’ll present you our brand-new feature called Module Management. We’ll show you what this feature is all about, explain in detail each aspect of how it works, and mention some limitations of the new feature.

In this blog, we talk a lot about modules, their numerous capabilities, and the benefits they bring to marketers’ pipelines. They seem perfect the way they are. However, there’s always room for improvement. We’re introducing a new feature designed to make working with the module library even easier and more efficient. Meet the Module Management feature.

What is Module Management all about?

First of all, let’s introduce what this feature does and where it can be found. Remember your module library? It was only accessible as a small window in the editor where you can select created modules and search them by name, tags, and ID.

The Module Management feature opens the door to your module library. It’s a separate tab in your account where all your created modules are stored, giving you complete freedom to work with and manage your library. We provide you with all the necessary features for:

  • convenient cataloging;
  • sharing; and
  • quickly creating modules tailored to your needs.

How does it work?

To show you everything Module Management has to offer, we’ll split this section of the blog into sub-sections, each one dedicated to a specific functionality, and explain how it works.

Initial launch: For new users

If you are a new Stripo user and don’t have any saved modules yet, clicking on Module Management will show you this screen. But it won’t be empty for long, as any module you’ll save during the email-design process will appear here. To start using this feature, you need to create your first module using our editor.

Launch: For existing users

The Module Management feature fits seamlessly into the workflow of our regular users who already have a library of modules. You don’t need to move anything, save anything separately, or recreate all your modules. Everything you saved as modules before the release of the feature will automatically appear in the Module Management menu.

Creating modules for your library

You can create modules for your library the traditional way, in the email editor, or directly through Module Management by clicking the New Module button.

Creating a module via Module Management

Clicking on this button will open this screen, where you can pick a module type you want to create. Pick from three options:

  • stripe, which is a full-width section of an email, like a header or footer;
  • structure, which is a row of content, like multiple product cards;
  • container, which is a single column in a row, like a single product card.

Module type options

Picking any option will activate our editor. But there is a hitch. It looks like a regular one, but you can only edit your picked option. As a result, you can’t add new structures, stripes, and so on. As for the other features, it’s completely the same as it’s ”older brother” editor you use for designing emails.

Once you’re done designing your masterpiece of a module, name it in the dedicated field and click on the Save button.

Saving a created module

After that, your module will be saved in the Module Management library.

Using modules

Modules created through this option will be shown with the rest of the modules in the editor, so you can work with them in the same way as the rest of the modules you create.

Storing your modules in one place

As we said earlier, for your convenience, all modules you create, whether through the email editor or the New Module feature, are stored in the Module Management menu. This way, you can quickly check what you already have, spot what’s missing, and access them either in the new Module Management tab or right in the editor.

Editing a module’s information

Clicking on a module opens the Module Info panel, where you can edit its details just like when saving a new module in the editor. You can change the name, description, category, status (synchronized or not), tags, and ID number, helping you keep your module library structured and easy to use. This way, you’re not limited to naming modules only when creating them; you can always update or edit their information later to make it easier to find what you need.

Managing modules

Now it’s time to discuss the functions of the Module Management feature. The management process is similar to the one that you follow in the Email Messages and My Templates tabs. To manage your modules, hover over them and click the small square to open the actions bar. This bar provides various actions that you can apply to your module:

  • “duplicate” allows you to make a copy of a selected module that appears within the Module Management menu;
  • “copy to” allows you to send a copy of a selected module to the destination you need (Important: it copies your module only within your organization);
  • “share to” moves a selected module to the destination you need (Important: it moves your module only within your organization);
  • “export” allows you to push modules to some ESPs and marketing platforms that support modules (coming soon);
  • “delete” deletes a selected module completely.

Module Management actions

All these actions can be applied to more than one module, which makes them bulk actions. All action options are the same. If you have copied or moved templates from other projects, your only action options are copying and duplicating.

Bulk management actions

Clicking on Copy or Move opens a dropdown menu, where you can select the destination for your module by choosing it from your projects.

Copying and sharing drop-down menu

In this menu, you can search for projects via the search bar or by picking them from the menu shown below. Click on the needed option to unlock the Copy (or Share) button and click on it to execute the action. You can also choose whether you want to copy (or share) the module used in the template by clicking on the corresponding tick box.

Available search options of copying and sharing

Searching and navigating through your library

To navigate easily in your module library, we’ve implemented a search field, so you can find a needed module by typing its name, module ID, or tag.

Module search features

Just type in your search query and we’ll show you all matching results.

Search results

Besides that, you can narrow down your search by clicking on this button, where all search filters are hidden. You can filter your search by:

  • whether your module has AMP elements or not;
  • whether it’s shared or not;
  • whether it’s synchronized or not;
  • category;
  • tags;
  • type.

Keep in mind that the last three options are dynamic and will show categories, tags, and types that are currently in your library. This means that you won’t see the Product Card Filter option if there are no modules attached to this category.

Module Management limitations

Before concluding, it’s worth mentioning specific limitations of the Module Management feature. It has different restrictions depending on user role:

  • owners, admins, and designers can view and manage modules with all available features;
  • writers and proofreaders can only view modules;
  • viewers can’t view or manage modules.

And, as we said earlier, copying and sharing your modules between different projects is only possible within your own organization.

Role limitations in Module Management

Conclusion

As you can see, the Module Management feature is simple to use. However, this simplicity conceals a new level of comfort and efficiency when working with modules. The more modules and projects you have, the more convenient management, navigation, and customization of your module library becomes. The feature is already available to every user, so you can try it now. We’d love to hear your feedback, so don’t hesitate to contact us.
