Sometimes, a single email is all it takes to introduce someone to an opportunity that changes their future. Reaching audiences in dozens of countries, however, requires more than great content. It also requires an efficient way to create, localize, and manage email campaigns.

For Eurodesk, a European youth information network operating across 36 countries, email is one of the main ways of connecting young people with opportunities to volunteer, study, work, and have unforgettable experiences. In this case study, you’ll learn how the organization uses Stripo to create multilingual email campaigns and save time, even as its subscriber base increased by 42.5%.

Meet the company

Eurodesk is a European youth information network that serves as a support structure for the Erasmus+ program and the EU Youth Strategy. The organization was founded in 1990 and has pursued the same mission ever since: to raise awareness among young people about mobility opportunities and encourage them to become active citizens.

Eurodesk helps young people discover opportunities to study, volunteer, and work abroad by managing youth information services, including content for the Eurodesk Opportunity Finder and the European Youth Portal.

The Eurodesk network also answers direct inquiries from young people, runs local outreach activities, and provides youth with access to over 3,500 local information providers across 36 European countries.

Email communication plays a critical role in disseminating updates concerning Eurodesk services, activities, and projects, as email newsletters are highly effective for reaching young adults alongside social media outreach. Eurodesk’s newsletters are essential for building a community and establishing credibility, and act as a call to action for young people while also serving as a key information hub for young professionals.

The challenge: Building multilingual newsletters that are easy to create and localize

The most challenging part of email marketing for the Eurodesk team was finding a user-friendly tool for creating newsletters and event invitations.

The main goal was to create visually appealing and impactful newsletters. The team was also looking for a cost-effective solution that would still provide a reliable email editor and make it easy to create dynamic email campaigns

Since Eurodesk is a pan-European network, it also faced challenges with localization and translation. The team needed to create communication materials that could be easily adapted and translated for non-English-speaking audiences across different countries.

The solution: A flexible email builder with localization and collaboration tools

The Eurodesk team began looking for an email builder that met all of their requirements. Their key criteria were flexible email design, smooth integration with their sending software, and a budget-friendly pricing model.

Eurodesk chose Stripo because it offers a huge template selection and loads of features that make it easy to run a great-looking newsletter that displays well on nearly all email accounts.

The workflow: One master template localized across Europe

The team uses Stripo to design email templates. The Information and Research Manager prepares and edits email campaigns with support from the graphic design team. The Eurodesk Brussels Link team creates the master version of each newsletter in Stripo.

Eurodesk communicates with a broad but well-segmented audience. Its primary audiences include:

  • young people aged 13-30 across Eurodesk’s 36 European countries;
  • youth workers and youth organizations;
  • policymakers involved in youth policy;
  • other European stakeholders.

Because many of these audiences are served by national Eurodesk offices, localization is a core part of the organization’s email production workflow. Localization is managed through collaboration between the Eurodesk Brussels Link team and the national Eurodesk offices.

The process works as follows:

  1. Eurodesk national centers request access to join the “Eurodesk Stripo space.”
  2. The Eurodesk Brussels Link then creates a dedicated “project” for each national office and invites the respective Eurodesk National Coordinator. In Stripo, projects let you manage email campaigns separately while using custom settings, languages, and collaboration options for each team.
  3. Templates can be shared across multiple projects, so national offices do not need to recreate them from scratch. They can use an existing template and focus only on translating and adapting the content.
  4. Once the template is shared with the national Eurodesk offices, each office can translate the content and adapt the email to its local audience’s needs.

Stripo helped simplify the process as it’s extremely easy to create and share the localized spaces with our Eurodesk members.

Note from Stripo

Stripo’s Email Translate Service lets you translate emails directly in the editor, upload translations in XLS or JSON format, switch between language versions, and export all localized emails to your ESP at once.

To enable localization, configure your default and target languages under “Settings” → “Workspace” → “Projects & Groups” → “Localization,” then turn on the “Add Links to Vendor Translate” option, which allows you to attach translation files directly in the editor.

Using this workflow, Eurodesk produces both recurring newsletters and one-off campaign emails. On average, the organization sends two emails per month.

The “Youthletter” is designed for young people and focuses on Eurodesk news, mobility programs, and international opportunities.

The “Eurodesk Newsletter” targets youth workers and other stakeholders. It features EU news, policy updates, and event invitations.

In addition to its main newsletters, Eurodesk also creates other types of email campaigns, such as:

  • information about mobility opportunities;
  • event invitations;
  • campaigns promoting European programs;
  • updates for partners and national networks.

To support this workflow, the team relies on reusable modules, templates for nonprofit organizations, collaboration tools, the translation service, and email testing tools.

At the moment, Eurodesk is experimenting with the different image design options available in the editor. The team says that Stripo makes it easy to apply the organization’s visual identity consistently across different email elements.

  3. Improving open rates by more than 70%

    Eurodesk also reported higher open rates after switching to Stripo. The strongest results came from its twice-yearly ad hoc newsletters to young people to inform them about EU-funded opportunities, which achieved open rates of more than 70%.
  4. Scaling email marketing efforts

    Stripo made it easier for Eurodesk to create and send email campaigns at scale. In 2025, the organization published 24 newsletters, including targeted campaigns for more than 40,000 young people, and reached over 700,000 subscribers across Europe.
  5. Simplifying the rebranding process

    When Eurodesk refreshed its visual identity, the team also needed to update its email templates. According to the team, adapting existing Stripo templates to match the new brand guidelines was straightforward, and the redesign made the newsletters even more engaging.
