What is generative AI for smart elements is, and why is it beneficial?

Smart elements are a standout feature of Stripo. They are essential for creating e-commerce emails and in other industries where you need to pull information from your website or third-party sources into your emails. With smart elements, you can easily create a product card with your preferred design with just a few clicks of the mouse.

At Stripo, we stay up-to-date with the latest trends, and we’ve taken a further step to enhance your experience. We are happy to present you with generative AI (artificial intelligence) for smart elements.

What is generative AI for smart elements is, and why is it beneficial?

First of all, let us remind you of what smart elements are. These are product cards or digest cards, where the information from your website is automatically pulled into email. All you have to do is paste the link to the product page into an email. Stripo retrieves the product name, product description, and product price into the email. It’s as simple as that.

Now we let you modify the copy in those smart elements with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) as one content unit. This enables a holistic approach to copy creation.
It’s worth mentioning that before introducing this feature to you, we conducted some research and discovered that adopting a unified approach to AI copy creation within one content unit boosts CTOR by 41.34%. We conducted all our tests with smart modules and were pleasantly surprised. AI proves to be an excellent tool for crafting impactful text for email newsletters.

How does GenAI work for smart elements?

To show you how generative AI works, we took a random listing on Etsy.com, shown below:

Listing for Smart Elements

  • we pulled a smart module into our email template;
  • we pasted the link to this listing in this module;
  • we can see that information from the listing is automatically pulled into the smart element.

Looking good, isn't it? However, let’s zoom in on the text our editor retrieved from the website.

Basic Smart Element Text

  • this text is from the Etsy listing page and is found in the page code (indicating that our editor did their job correctly);
  • if you want to make this copy more “catchy”, be sure to optimize it with GenAI by clicking the “Improve with AI” button.

  • In a couple of seconds, you will see this:

Smart Element Improved With AI

AI analyzed the listing, delved into the description, and, based on this, created a complete selling text that perfectly describes the product and its advantages in full detail. And all this with the click of one button. Now you can edit the text and product card as you see fit.

Important to note: General AI replaces the text in the title of the product card and the description. If you have other texts in the product card, AI will not change them.

How do our smart elements work?

Now, let’s see exactly how you can configure smart elements manually:

  • manually set matching rules for each aspect of the product card (product name, product description, product image, and price);
  • work on the product card design;
  • save this product card as a module in the modules library;
  • next time you create a new email, you just pull this module into your email template, paste a link to the product page into the smart module, and voilà—your product card is ready. That’s it!

There are two ways to configure smart elements using Stripo:

The first allows you to add the current product price, the old price, the product name, and a product description. This method of configuring smart elements might require some coding skills, but you need them just once. Then, you will be able to use those smart elements without anyone’s help. For more details, please refer to our article.

The second method is based on OG tags, which make it easy to configure your product and digest cards on your own, with no coding skills. In this case, you can pull a product description, product name, and product image into emails.

We checked the largest websites for OG tags. The following sites have them:

  • AliExpress.com;
  • Walmart.com;
  • Etsy.com;
  • Medium.com;
  • Pocket.com;
  • Reddit.com;
  • Linkedin.com.

You can also check your website for these OG tags on your own. Please find the manual here.

We have provided a detailed explanation of what OG tags are and how to use them to configure smart elements in our comprehensive article.

Wrapping up

You now see the first iteration of this feature, which is already available for you to use in Stripo. However, we do not stop there and will continue to work on improving it and developing ideas for using AI in creating emails. Stay tuned for more, and check out more information about our new features in the Release notes section.
