This year has been marked by a series of innovative feature launches such as our enhanced email editor, new account, and GenAI technology. In addition, we reached the remarkable milestone of 1 million users. These accomplishments underscore our commitment to innovation, user empowerment, and setting new standards in the email marketing industry.

Welcome to the traditional rubric that we truly enjoy — Stripo’s year in review, distilled into key figures. Here, we spotlight the most essential numbers that define our journey through 2023:

  • engagement per session: On average, each sheet saw 22 sessions, indicating a high level of engagement and interaction with our platform;
  • collaborative efforts: An email was edited by a maximum of 4 people, showcasing the collaborative spirit that drives successful email campaigns;
  • intensive template editing: The record for the most changes made to a single template stood at 2,242 across 22 sessions. This translates to nearly 100 changes per session, a testament to the meticulous and thorough work of our users;
  • prolific email creation: Since 2017 — a remarkable total of 8,361 emails created by a single user. In 2023 — a staggering 3,507 emails were crafted by our most active user, highlighting both dedication and productivity;
  • versatility in email exporting: The maximum number of different Email Service Providers (ESPs) to which a single email was exported reached 6, demonstrating the flexibility and adaptability of our platform;
  • growing community: Approximately 270,000 new users joined us in 2023, significantly expanding our vibrant community of email marketers.

The evolution of our email editor

Staying ahead of the curve is essential — not just for us — but, more importantly, for our users in the dynamic field of email marketing. This year, our focus extended beyond merely updating the design. We aimed to create something significantly more impactful for our users.

Our primary goal with the new editor was to significantly improve its performance, and we're thrilled to report that our users greatly appreciated these enhancements. Faster, more efficient, and more reliable — these are the hallmarks of our revamped editor.

But that's not all. We understand the importance of agility in today's fast-paced digital environment. Therefore, we've designed the new editor to facilitate the rapid addition of new features. This approach ensures that we can quickly adapt to emerging trends and user needs, keeping Stripo at the forefront of email marketing technology.

WYSIWYG 

A standout feature of our new editor is the integration of "True" WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). This advanced interface revolutionizes email creation, allowing users to work on a specific version of their email (desktop or mobile), switch modes seamlessly, and perfect their designs in real time. This capability ensures that what you design is exactly how it will appear to recipients, a crucial advantage in today's email marketing landscape where responsiveness and adaptability are key.

Ongoing developments: Features on the horizon 

While we're proud of the progress we've made, we acknowledge that there's always room for growth. Currently, features such as the Timer and AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) are still being developed for the new editor. To add them to your email, you need to switch to the old editor and once you’re done switch back. Rest assured that all the changes/modifications you make in the old editor will stay in-tact in the new editor.

Transitioning from old to new

We understand that change can be daunting, which is why the old editor will remain operational for another year to ensure a smooth and stress-free transition. Currently, the new editor is still in the testing phase and is available by default only to new users. This approach allows us to refine and perfect the new editor based on user feedback and usage patterns. During this transition period, users can easily switch between the old and new versions, which will allow everyone to move at their own pace and adapt comfortably to the new features and interface.

This update isn't just a facelift; it's a complete transformation aimed at enhancing speed, efficiency, and collaboration in email marketing.

Faster and more efficient

The new account at Stripo has been meticulously updated to speed up your work. We've streamlined processes and optimized performance, ensuring that every action you take is faster and more responsive. This upgrade is not just about quick fixes; it's a foundational improvement designed to support all the exciting features we plan to introduce.

Group projects

One of the standout features of our new account system is the ability to create groups for individual projects. You can establish specific settings and brand guidelines that can be automatically applied to all existing and future projects within the group. What's more, this functionality allows you to assign roles, set permissions, and manage access within these groups seamlessly. This feature is a game-changer for teams looking to maintain consistency and streamline workflow.

Flexible roles and permissions: Tailoring access

Currently, our system supports standard roles and permissions, but we're actively developing a more flexible framework. This update will allow for custom roles and permissions, giving you greater control over how your team interacts with projects. It's all about providing the right access to the right people at the right time.

Mobile-friendly design: On-the-go accessibility

Recognizing the increasing need for mobile accessibility, we've redesigned the account to be comfortable and efficient to use on mobile devices. Whether you're in the office or on the move, you'll have the full power of Stripo at your fingertips.

The new account system at Stripo is more than just an upgrade; it's a transformation that paves the way for a more collaborative, efficient, and mobile-friendly email marketing experience. Commenting and real-time co-editing: A work in progress

We had ambitious plans to release the commenting and real-time co-editing features in 2023. However, our commitment to using CRDT (Conflict-free Replicated Data Type) technology to ensure that comments are saved even without an internet connection has led to a slight delay. This technology is crucial for providing a seamless collaborative experience, and we're working diligently to implement it effectively.

Teamwork enhancements in progress

We’ve mentioned that we're in the midst of developing robust commenting and real-time collaborative editing features. These tools are designed to allow instantaneous feedback and collaborative content creation. Once implemented, these features will significantly enhance the way teams interact and work on emails, making the process more dynamic and efficient.

Integration with Slack and Asana

Another exciting development is the integration of Stripo with popular project management tools such as Slack and Asana. With this feature, individuals will be able to view projects and leave comments without the need to register or log in to Stripo every time. This level of accessibility is particularly beneficial for teams that include external collaborators or clients who need to provide input without being fully immersed in the Stripo environment.

The focus on teamwork within Stripo is a reflection of our understanding of the collaborative nature of modern email marketing. These new features are being introduced with the goal of significantly enhancing team dynamics and improving project outcomes.

Prioritizing data security and trust

Two-factor authentication (2FA): An extra layer of security

We've introduced Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as a standard security feature for all Stripo accounts. By requiring a second form of verification, typically a code sent to a mobile device, 2FA provides our clients with peace of mind, ensuring that their data is well-protected.

Comprehensive security certifications

Stripo is dedicated to maintaining high standards of data protection and security, as reflected in our range of security certifications. These certifications are a testament to our consistent adherence to established data security practices. They provide our clients with the assurance that both their own and their subscribers' data are securely managed and protected.

Vanta verification: A testament to our security standards

We're proud to announce that we have passed the Vanta verification, a rigorous assessment of our security protocols and practices. This verification is a testament to our unwavering commitment to data security.

Looking ahead, we are on track to receive our SOC 2 certification in February, further solidifying our position as a leader in data security. This certification, renowned for its stringent requirements, will provide an additional layer of assurance regarding our security, availability, and confidentiality practices. Upon receiving the SOC 2 certification, it will be added to our Trust Center.

Ongoing vigilance: Manual moderation and HackerOne collaboration

Our approach to security is proactive and continuous. We employ manual moderation to ensure that no scammers slip through our defenses. This hands-on approach complements our automated systems, providing an additional layer of scrutiny.

Furthermore, our cooperation with HackerOne highlights our commitment to staying ahead of potential security threats. By engaging with a community of ethical hackers, we can identify and address vulnerabilities before they can be exploited, ensuring a secure platform for our clients and their subscribers.

Advancing accessibility in email marketing

We focus on a crucial aspect that often goes overlooked in the digital world: accessibility. At Stripo, we're dedicated to ensuring that our platform and the emails created through it are accessible to everyone, including those with visual impairments.

Optimizing email code for accessibility

At Stripo, we've taken a significant step this year by optimizing the code for all emails created through our platform. This optimization is in line with the guidelines set by the Email Markup Consortium, ensuring that emails are not only visually appealing but also accessible, particularly for screen reader users. Recognizing our responsibility with over a million users, we believe that optimizing emails for screen readers is a crucial step toward making the digital world more inclusive. By enhancing the accessibility of emails from our platform, we contribute to a more accessible online environment, benefiting our vast subscriber base and making a positive impact on the community.

Email campaign precheck: Planning for enhanced accessibility

As we continue to refine our email solutions, we're excited to share a concept that is currently in our development pipeline: the Email Campaign Precheck tool. Although it's not yet available, it represents a significant step forward in our efforts to help users identify potential accessibility issues in their email designs, aligning with our commitment to inclusivity.

While the final design and coding optimizations for screen reader compatibility are often in the hands of marketers and designers, our goal is to provide them with a tool that offers valuable insights and recommendations. The Precheck tool, still in the planning stage, aims to address the needs of individuals who are colorblind, dyslexic, or epileptic. By highlighting areas of an email that may not meet accessibility standards, and suggesting improvements, we're preparing to empower our users to create more inclusive and effective email communications.

We are actively working toward aligning with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), focusing on making our platform usable for individuals with visual impairments, including those who are color blind. Our GenAI technology is a groundbreaking addition to our suite of tools. It's designed to revolutionize not just individual text elements but entire email modules. GenAI's capabilities extend beyond basic text generation; it's about creating cohesive, contextually relevant, and engaging content for entire email modules.

The vision: Automated email creation

Our vision for GenAI is ambitious. We're not just looking to automate parts of the email creation process; we aim to automate the entire process. From drafting compelling content to designing visually appealing and interactive modules, GenAI is set to transform how email marketing campaigns are developed. This level of automation will save time, reduce the margin for error, and allow marketers to focus on strategy and creativity.

In 2023, Stripo significantly expanded our interactive module offerings, introducing a range of engaging and playful games that have transformed the email marketing experience. These game modules, part of our interactive module generator, have opened new avenues for creativity and engagement in email campaigns.

A diverse range of interactive games

Our interactive module generator now includes several new games, each designed to captivate and engage email recipients:

  • scratcher game: This interactive feature allows the creation of a "scratch-to-reveal" experience, similar to lottery tickets. Users can hide secret messages or promo codes beneath a scratchable surface, adding an element of surprise and interaction to their emails;
  • wheel of Fortune: This game lets recipients spin a virtual wheel to win prizes or discover promo codes, adding a fun and interactive element to the email experience;
  • puzzle quiz game: A creative way to engage subscribers, this game challenges them to solve a puzzle or riddle, with the answer revealed in an assembled image;
  • name match game: Added in October, this game calculates the compatibility of two names or how well a chosen vacation destination suits the recipient. It's a versatile tool that can be used in various thematic email campaigns, such as Valentine's Day or travel newsletters.

These games can be created easily through a user-friendly interface and require no coding skills. They offer a unique way for marketers to enhance their email campaigns, making them not just a means of communication but an interactive experience.

Celebrating milestones and setting new goals

Moreover, we want to highlight the significant events and milestones that have shaped our year, and look ahead to our aspirations for 2024.

Celebrating 1 million users

A monumental achievement for Stripo this year is reaching the 1 million user milestone. This is more than just a number; it's a testament to the trust and loyalty of our users. Each represents a story of creativity, success, and partnership with Stripo. A large number of users who joined us in 2017 right after launch are still with us. We're incredibly proud of this achievement and are motivated to continue providing exceptional service and innovative solutions to our growing community.

This year, Stripo has made its presence felt at several major industry events, connecting with peers, gaining insights, and sharing our expertise. A standout moment was our participation in MailCon, a leading email marketing conference. It was here that we drew inspiration from the likes of Cyrill Gross, whose insights on interactive fallback played a pivotal role in shaping our approach to email engagement. These events are not just about networking; they're a source of inspiration and innovation for us.

Looking forward: Our plans for 2024

As we set our sights on 2024, Stripo is gearing up for a year of ambitious developments and strategic expansions. Our roadmap is defined by a commitment to continuous innovation and enhancing user experience. 

A major milestone that we're excited about is the rollout of Real-Time Commenting, slated for this spring. This feature is set to revolutionize the way teams collaborate on email projects, enabling instant feedback and streamlined communication. 

Recognizing the transformative power of AI in email marketing, we're delving deeper into automating the creation of specific types of emails. Our journey into AI-driven solutions has already begun, and we're eager to share our progress in this domain soon.

In line with the WYSIWYG principle, we are also planning to adapt and edit emails in both dark and light themes. This feature allows users to immediately see how their emails will be rendered in different themes and make necessary adjustments on the spot.

Additionally, we plan to maintain our commitment to data security and accessibility, ensuring that our platform is not only advanced in terms of technology but also responsible and inclusive. We believe that the future of email marketing lies in the balance of innovation, security, and accessibility.
